A Journey with the Giants of Jazz (London premiere)

1917 was a defining year for jazz, which saw the birth of some of its most influential artists: Thelonious Monk, Dizzy Gillespie, Ella Fitzgerald, Tadd Dameron, Buddy Rich and Mongo Santamaria. Peter Edwards conducts the Nu Civilisation Orchestra for the premiere of his latest commission, A Journey with the Giants of Jazz which takes as its starting point motifs from six works associated with these jazz icons.

The Jazz Ticket is a nationwide music programme generously supported by Arts Council England National Lottery funds to enable more people to enjoy and engage with music and the arts. The Jazz Ticket tour is produced by Tomorrow's Warriors and has been devised in partnership with Turner Sims and Southampton Music Hub.

A Journey with the Giants of Jazz by Peter Edwards is commissioned by Turner Sims with generous support from PRS for Music Foundation New Music Biennial and receives its World Premiere on 16 March 2017.
